what the weekend is shaping up to look like...

<--here is a good pic from Bday Blitz 2005. Don't worry, the camera doesn't have red-eye, we do. A few too many smokers decided to convene at Trader Todd's the evening of our party. That night, in a word, Maura and Katie were...wow!

...in regards to the title, in short, I'm going to have a houseparty at my brother's psuedo-bachelor pad. He and his roommate Dave won't be there, but Dave's neurotic Weimareiner, Shade, will be. I'm there under the guise of "dog-sitting" but they told me I could have people over, so gosh darnit, I will!

Their address is 1847 W. Ohio, right off of Damen and kind of a trek from cool central, Damen & Division. But I think everyone should come. Some reasons:

1. rooftop--almost as cool as Jesslyn and Maura's since theirs is bigger, but just as cool bc the neighbors don't care if you sit on their shared furniture. Also working in the roof's favor is an uh-mazing view of the city. Prime spot for makeouts and dance parties.

2. hard-wood floors--great for dance parties.

3. fridge stocked by girlfriends, but manned by Dave the Grillmaster--this means lots of late-night hot dogs. On whole wheat buns.

4. it's a new residence we can rough up, instead of the old tried and true apartments around Wicker Park/Bucktown/Ukranian Village/the burbs/whereevs.

Tonight, is Kristin's t-shirt show at her boyfriend Ross' apartment (1932 S. Halsted; see earlier post for exclusive deets) so I'm already prepared to drink lots of Pabst, or another similar cheap beer.

In other news, someone has now stolen the Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack from me TWICE. That's right, not once but TWICE. Fool me once, jerkstores, shame on you. But fool me twice? Shame on me, I'm dumb and don't keep very good track of my cds. I long for When in Rome and Jamiroquai. And Figurine. God, I want to die--I'm missing it so much right now. I hope that asshole is out in blogworld and somehow sees this, and feels horrible for ruining my life. A little.

please help!

All those flyers I've been carrying around and posting in strange places like your refridgerators or coffeeshops in Wrigleyville, well, they actually have a purpose.

For those of you who enjoy kids and are committed to inspiring creativity, as well as fostering those great ideas that already exist, 826CHI needs your help!

826CHI is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write...

visit www.826chi.org for detailed information, but that's the gist of it...and if you're wondering, hmmm, maybe this is something worthwhile, then please please hit this event:

Sunday, September 25thThe 826CHI Security Deposit BenefitThe Metro3730 North Clark Street Doors at 7 p.m. / Show at 7:30 p.m. $10
We couldn't be more excited to hold our first 826CHI fund-raiser, given its name in honor of our newly-signed lease. With that in mind, we hope you will join us, and bring many of your friends, to the Metro for a evening of fine Chicago music. Performers will be The Watchers, Baby Teeth, The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, and Archer Prewitt. Tickets can be purchased at
http://www.metrochicago.com/, at the Metro box office, and at the door the evening of the event.

I don't know who any of these bands are, maybe Darling or Hummingbird or the now-defunct PST would be able to fill me in? Either way, even if you hate these bands, there will be plenty of resources available there! Invite your rents and your neighbors! I certainly will, though I may have to brief my mom on what this benefit might be like; probably not the cheese-croquettes-and-chardonnay-in-a-loft-warehouse she had envisioned.

I'm excited! And can't wait for 826CHI to be up and running!

If I've already convinced you, and you're interested in volunteering, visit this link to fill out the volunteer application and read more about what you'd be able to offer as a volunteer:

http://www.826chi.org/volunteer.php

If I haven't convinced you, well, then I'm cornering you the next time I see you and will go pretend-lawyer on your ass with about 13 good reasons why you should do this. Maybe even 22 good reasons, but I'll have to prepare my case.

where you should be on Friday

Hi. Sorry I went crazy yesterday. I don't know what compelled me to write on everyone's blogs...I think boredom combined with anxiety about boredom, if that makes sense. I'm completely ready to move out, but the waiting is killing me, and making me want to kill my parents.

Plus I'll be working at the same company as Le Chris, so I'll probably want to kill him soon too.

I'm being terribly dramatic, but I do that when I'm bored. Really I won't be killing anyone; only metaphorical murdering.

Once I move into my new beautifully crappy two-room studio, and settle into my career, I'll be...probably so busy no one will see me again. But I'll do my best to be around; I'm just supposed to do this career thing for a while and see where it takes me.

BUT: in reference to the title, this is KRISTIN'S T-SHIRT SHOW and we should all be there to support her. Did you know as many times as she's done these shows, NOT ONE OF US has shown up?

That's not happening this time. The deets are above, in DubK Design, but in case it's too small to read: 1932 S. Halsted, Suite 201 @ 6pm. You should be there. And you should be topless. I'm trying to figure out what bra I want to wear, and I think I already know.

I'll try to contain my craziness next time I attack blogworld, but really I don't think I should have to. So I probably won't. Stay tuned for more bizarro posts this week, and probably next week too, bc I'll actually have started my career and will probably want to kill myself in a dramatic corporate suicide.

[j/k-ing of course.]

calling all gf's!

Showtime, Synergy! Halloween will soon be upon us, girlfriends, and we need to get our act together. I suggest we hit Cleo Boutique in DT LG ASAP. Did you catch that? In Ben-speak, that's "downtown LaGrange as soon as possible." I have a feeling stuff will be flying off the shelves (and out of the window display!) if we don't go soon.

Here we are. !! I still kind of wish I could be Kimber, but according to Lainey, I have to be Jem. No prob, just don't have a fluff-tastic wig...god, I want big hair so bad!

This is who we'll be fighting. And if the Misfits don't actually show up where we are, we'll just fight other people.

I'm gonna make it with Rio on Halloween. He has purple hair, and he's magically synergistic. See that sparkle when we kiss? We're superstars!

Wow, I'm a huge loser. I can't believe I blogged about a billion people to death, and now have moved on to my own blog.

Partly, I'm excited about Halloween bc: 1) it's my fav holiday of the year; 2) we just got these weird crappy Halloween toys at Anderson's and I've had to work on "Halloween displays" all day, so I'm kind of excited about that; and 3) ghost stories!

Alright, I'm done blogging (maybe) for the day since everyone else is either a) dead or b) pretend dead, since they're scared of my death-by-blogging tactics.

me + quotes = true love

Since it's a day off and I've been thinking about lots of friends at home and abroad, I wanted to post something about Ruby Gloom.

Here is how her book starts off:

"One is the loneliest number...and I can tell you a lot about how that feels. For you see, I live on the outskirts of a town called Gloomsville.

I spend a lot of time there by myself--playing records in the attic and dancing on the rooftop of my mansion under the moonlight. Some people say I look like I'm sad and lonely. But I'm really happy in my own way. In fact...

...I think I'm the happiest girl in the world."

It really is bolded, I didn't add that, even though I recently wrote about how obsessed with italics and bolding I am.

Ruby Gloom's Guide to Friendship includes sections about what friendship should be, and to prove to you that it's not totally gay, since I think most everyone reading this is probably thinking, uh oh Sarah's gone gay on us, here's some tidbits:

"Friendship is...understanding

friends sometimes get carried away...but often that's what makes the best memories

Friendship is...accepting

never judge a book by its cover...because what's on the inside is what really matters.

Friendship is...sticking together

friends are there for each other...especially when you find yourself in unfamiliar territory.

Friendship is...sharing

the early bird gets the worm...but a good friend will save you a piece even if you're late."

I was going to post more quotes from the book, especially about friendship, but I have to go and I've been sappy enough for today. I was also going to post more pics, since the illustrations that go along with these quote-lettes are rad! but again, I spent too much time being sappy and I think I'm going to a Kwilosz beer-bq.

that link probably doesn't work, so be prepared for that; just type it in your browser, it's not that hard
